It began to get lighter after so much darkness, and now it wasn't so windy but when it was, the air smelled like hope, sun, like plus degrees, short nights and midnight sun. Midsummer's eve was close and with a joy of dancing with naked feet for new beginnings and, hopefully, with the chance of falling in love again. Sometimes it felt hard to open one's heart to someone or to trust someone. "Is it really what I want?", wondered a girl who wished for a new change and whose only contact with love was with that in books. She expected a big change on midsummer's eve while she looked out the ferry's window on her way to Visby, the medieval city. After moving to Sweden eight months ago and meeting all kinds of people who were now her friends and acquaintances, she still felt alone in her heart.

She had dreamt many times of the day when she would celebrate midsummer for the first time: she would be glad, would choose the most beautiful flowers for her first midsummer crown, she would try new dishes and she would do all that in Gotland. What she hadn't dreamt of was that she would wish to do it with someone special, after so many attempts to be more independent, especially after those times when she had to defend herself about humiliating prejudices in front of a man.

She was so afraid because she wouldn't stop thinking about this until it happened and it had been so long since she felt something like that for the last time.
