Gott nytt år, guys! I thought one learns better from mistakes and past experiences so that's why I'm gonna tell you about four things I learnt from 2017 about learning Swedish!

1. Don't be afraid to expose yourself
I'm a really shy person so, reasonably, it takes me a long time to be able to speak out loud in my target languages because of what if I make a mistake? what if I say something wrong? what if I don't have the right intonation? But truth is, Rome wasn't built in one day and so it's not your target language. It requires practice, so don't be afraid to speak up in your target language. The worst thing that can happen is that you have a good laugh at what you said. If you still don't trust me, you can check out my post about some mistakes I've made while I've learning Swedish! 2. Reach out for help
Don't be afraid to ask for help when you really need it instead of wasting your energy day in and out. Chances are that someone else's explanations may help you more than those in your books or other sources.
3. Practising every day helps you more than practising for several hours some days
I've also had my moments or periods when I wouldn't have the time to study Swedish or I just wouldn't study it. And it really hurts because, at least in my case, I lost some of the things that I had already acquired and my level would go down, which meant that I would have to work twice more to acquire them again. I would just take my books I wouldn't stop studying for hours. This would not help me at all. That's when I learnt that by practising daily for short periods of time, I would accomplish more.
4. Allow yourself take time
Don't rush over the fact that it is taking you a long time to understand or acquire a certain grammatical aspect. Good things take time and so does learning a new language. Allow yourself take as much time as it needs so that it's done in the right way instead of rushing to learn it. If you take the time to work on it, it will probably stay in your memory for a longer time than if you try to learn it fast.
Hope you guys started 2018 properly and that these tips help you in your language learning!
